Socialbuttons thumb Why you should Blog and Social Network If you have a business, any passion or high level of interest in anything … you should be blogging and social networking (microblogging) about it.

If you’re like most people, then you probably have many and varied interests and therefore many topics to blog and socialize about.

Blogging and social networking not only set you up as an expert in your field(s) of interest, but helps you to share and communicate it with others while making truly valuable connections and opening up the possibilities to discovering new ideas from that shared community.

You have the power and freedom to express yourself the way you want to do it. You don’t need to wait on a web designer to update your blog or your social networks … you do it when and where you want on your schedule and at your pace. Once you have your blog installed and joined your social networks, you get the power of using various free themes which is very helpful if you’re not a designer. Blogging and social networking can be fun and personal, or help to showcase and expand your business. Today’s blogs and social networks are search engine friendly which makes it easier than ever for family, friends, colleagues, customers and prospects be able to quickly find and connect with you. But the main, true gift of blogging and social networking is that wonderful shared community that is created in this hectic, technology-driven, disconnected, yet interconnected global world of ours.

Here’s how I decided what to blog and social network about; I took a look at my bookshelves, internet bookmarks, and magazine subscriptions and narrowed down my main interests to Business, Design and Marketing. One of my other passions (and career experience) happens to be about coffee and the coffee industry.

Fortunately for me, the first three topics relate very well to each other and I was able to create my own business/blog combining them (www.aimitmedia.com).

Although they do relate nicely, they are still three very distinct and individual topics so I found it takes a lot of balance to share my ideas on them.

My interest in coffee lead to me having to create a completely separate blogsite and social networking profiles geared specifically toward that industry (MyCoffeePro).

So now I have four topics, but I’m able to condense myself down into two distinct social networking accounts and profiles.

For my next article Best Tools & Workflow for Social Networking, I’ll share with you how to go about the process of being a proficient blogger and socializer with the tools and social networks that I use and enjoy.
